This has been an amazing week for me! Let me tell you why....Over the last year I have worked with one of our clients, a large Telco provider, on a very exciting project aptly dubbed the "New World of Work"! This program is built on a suite of Microsoft technologies which will optimise business productivity and collaboration within  our client's departments while reaching out to their external partners as required. My part - Sharepoint ;0) As an IW Consultant I am responsible for architecting a design that maps the clients requirements into an easy to use, reliable, and cost effective solution. The past year consisted of workshops, meetings, conference calls, a pilot phase, and finally a design that will ultimately improve how the company's employees share information and work together. Changing working practises for the better and saving money along the way ;0)

 

This week saw the "New World of Work" enter it's final phase and the reason for my AMAZING week. As a consultant my focus tends to be on design and best practises. We are trusted advisors and don't often get the opportunity to deploy what we preach but this week is different! I am deploying the fruits of my labour. An intranet and extranet solution that will promote the sharing and indexing of information via information portals, meeting spaces and document libraries. Did I mention that all of this information will be not only available on users web browsers but mobile phones and home offices too? Oh yes!

 

Over the next couple of weeks I will be working closely with our clients IT personnel to ensure a smooth and successful deployment. And then...........IW Consultant's have never been in more demand, so I have plenty of challenging, not to mention rewarding work ahead....
